Anna, the wife of David, my guide dries her amauti by the fire after being caught in a heavy snow fall today. Amauti are functional outer coats which double as a carrier for babies and small children. The child is carried in the hood enabling the mother to continue to work but also it builds a strong bond between mother and infant.
