The Javan flying squirrel or lomys horsfieldii seen here gliding between trees, are nocturnal animals and can often be found feasting on the Durian plantations. It is named after Thomas Horsfield, an American naturalist who visited Java in 1800 who began collecting plants and animals for Sir Stamford Raffles, he later published a book of his findings.
